Continue to promote tourism that brings revenue to the city that provides the financial resources that benefit our citizens. Always maintain a balance between tourism and citizens’ needs which should always come first.
Grapevine has successfully managed to make sales tax our primary source of revenue, allowing us to have the second lowest property tax rate for cities with a population over 50,000.
We’ve done this by working closely with Grapevine Mills Mall (our #1 sales tax generator) to bring in major attractions such as Legoland, SeaLife, Peppa Pig, and Fieldhouse as well as marketing our historic Main Street, promoting local businesses, having multiple festivals and events through the year including being the “Christmas Capital of Texas.”
Recently, we’ve been successful in bringing in major corporate users to our community, some of which generate sales tax to the city without being storefront retail (Kubota, Paycom, Trade Group, Southland Holdings, and Solo Stoves)
In the last 3 years, we’ve been able to build two new fire stations, upgrade two of our older fire stations, open Main Street Station with the magnificent Harvest Hall and Hotel Vin, refurbished the old Senior Center into a community meeting place now referred to as The Vine, and the recently opened Grapevine Golf Course-Persimmon’s, a restaurant “not just for golfers”…. All without raising taxes!
